STARSPANGLEDBANNER X QUIFF FILLY
OUR NXT LEVEL TEAM COMMENTS
By a Group One winner, out of a Group One winner, this beautiful filly screams Pedigree, Pedigree, Pedigree! It’s not every day you find a filly that is nice and compact like she is but also has Group One winning first and second dams! The mare, Quiff, has already proved her worth in the breeding barn producing eight to race for a total of six individual winners whilst Starspangledbanner has done a fantastic job as a stallion all over the world and we feel this filly will continue that great record for our lucky owners.
She may only be a little filly, but she looks to have a nice big engine behind her and with the speed of her dad and the world class staying ability of her mum, we think she will have a nice turn of foot in the final furlong of her races.
To buy this filly seemed like a no-brainer and with legendary trainer Lee Freedman to train, she could not be in better hands. After her racing career, she should also make a valuable broodmare prospect in the long run for our owners. She is an absolute pocket rocket with a great attitude, beautiful walk on her and we are hopeful to see her during the middle of her two year old season.

What a grand job Starspangledbanner did following in the footsteps of his high achieving sire Choisir - both eye-catching chestnuts enjoying international success with big race victories at Royal Ascot.
One of Choisir's 97 stakes winners and 11 Gr.1 winners, Starspangledbanner was a seven times winner from 23 starts, amassing over $2.2 million in stakes with four of his victories coming at the elite level - the Caulfield Guineas, the Oakleigh Plate, the July Cup and the Golden Jubilee Stakes.
Despite fertility issues, Starspangledbanner has done a great job at stud in both hemispheres, well represented by 14 stakes winners including the Gr.1 gallopers The Wow Signal and Millisle - as well as the Group winners Home Of The Brave, Anthem Alexander, Aloha Star, Of The Brave and Spangled.
Boasting excellent statistics - 62.2% (an even higher 67.2% in the southern hemisphere) winners-to-runners and 5.4% stakes winners-to-runners, Starspangledbanner has progeny earnings in excess of $16 million... and he has sired winners all over the world; Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, America, South Africa, Hong Kong, India and Spain.
This strong and imposing filly is out of the wonderful race mare Quiff whose sire is the legendary Sadler's Wells - triple Gr.1 winning Champion Sire of 291 stakes winners including an amazing 73 individual Gr.1 winners. And he is further excelling as a broodmare sire, his daughters producing 405 stakes winners, 77 of whom are Gr.1 winners including the recently retired champion Enable. One of Enable's Gr.1 successes came in the prestigious Yorkshire Oaks, a Classic also won by Quiff who in a memorable performance put a stunning 11 lengths on her rivals! Racing only six times, she was also an unlucky third in the Gr.2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot and a fastfinishing and close second to the Epsom Derby runner-up Rule Of Law in the Gr.1 St Leger. The top rated distance filly in the world in 2004, Quiff has spent time in the UK and Australia during her broodmare career and six of her eight runners are winners including the seven times winner The Great Gabrial.
This filly is her first Australian born foal and she has much to live up to with both her sire and dam wowing them on the international stage!
A filly with outstanding long term value, she hails from an outstanding European family with her grandam being the Gr.1 1000 Guineas winner Wince, daughter of the terrific stallion Selkirk. The winner of four of her nine starts, she was represented by five winners with Total Command and Arabian Gulf joining Quiff in earning black type. !
Wince is one of six winners produced by the Lyphard mare Flit, also dam of the Royal Ascot stakes winner Ulundi and grandam of the Gr.3 winner Half Glance. Her dam Nimble Folly produced ten winners including the Gr.1 Lassie Stakes winner Contredance, the five times Group winner Skimble (dam of the dual Gr.1 winner Skimming), the Gr.3 winner Shotiche and the Listed winner Old Alliance. A full sister to the Gr.3 winner Misgivings (dam of the Gr.3 galloper At Risk), Nimble Folly is also ancestress of the dual Gr.1 winners Marketing Mix and Pryka, the Group winners Eltish, Forest Gazelle, Tranquil Tiger, Raise Suzuran and Menta Fresca and the Listed winners Light Step, Nova Step, Comfy, Souplesse and Coachella Valley. A superb international family!
Choisir and Sadler's Wells have always combined exceptionally well, this cross producing the Gr.1 winners Winter, Obviously, Watch Me and Kushadasi. And Starspangledbanner is doing just as well with this line - his Gr.1 Prix Morny winner The Wow Signal being out of a granddaughter of Sadler's Wells as is his four times Group winner Home Of The Brave.
Boasting crosses of the great stallions Northern Dancer, Sharpen Up and Court Martial, this filly also carries background duplications of the influential mares Mumtaz Begum, Pretty Polly, Boola Brook, La Troienne, Lady Juror, Marchetta and Frizette.
