Pariah × Just Pay Up Colt

NLS Team at Sales_600x300.png

OUR NXT LEVEL TEAM COMMENTS

This fella is a well put together colt and ticks all the boxes that we like to see in a yearling. Overall, we just like how he presents and his overall physical and think that he will really be able to run.

A lot of young yearlings get overawed with the process that occurs at the sales; the first time away from the big open paddocks with people everywhere often spooks them and makes things a bit uncomfortable but this guy was absolutely as cool as a cucumber. Although he was only a yearling, every time we took him out of the box he was the absolute professional and acted if he had been doing it for years.

This ability to not be overcome by the situation is something that we love to see and it often is a good sign that a horse isn’t an over thinker. Racing is a simple game if you have a horse that doesn’t over think things! He has a nice correct walk and we really think he will certainly grow into an impressive animal once he has fully matured. His x-ray were perfect, his scope was clean and we think that he could turn out to be one of the steals of the sale!

The progeny of the promising first season stallion Pariah have been in great demand at the yearling sales, selling for up to $250,000 which is a fantastic result off his current service fee of $16,500.

It is not often that the third book of mares served by a stallion is larger than the second but so much did Pariah's first foals impress that last year he was visited by 144 mares, 44 more than the previous season.

A talented racehorse who caught the eye from day one - fetching $700,000 as an Easter yearling - Pariah achieved what few can do, winning a feature race at debut, proving a length too good for his rivals in the Gr.3 Canonbury Stakes.

At his next two starts finishing a gallant runner up in the Gr.3 Blue Diamond Prelude and the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes, Pariah was also in great form at three - adding to his resume a Gr.3 San Domenico Stakes victory and a Gr.2 Run To The Rose second.

Fast and tough, Pariah - who stands at Arrowfield Stud - is one of 177 stakes winners sired by the three times Australian Champion Sire Redoute's Choice, a four times Gr.1 winner who is a renowned sire of sires... his sons Snitzel, Stratum, Not A Single Doubt, Bradbury's Luck, Duelled, Lucky Unicorn, Time Thief, Fast 'N' Famous, Master Of Design, Beneteau all siring Gr.1 winners.

The sire of 38 Gr.1 winners, Redoute's Choice maintained impressive statistics throughout his career - 76.5% winners-to-runners and 11.9% stakes winners to runners. Hailing from an outstanding Australian family, Pariah is a 3/4 brother to the dual Gr.1 winner Melito and his fourth dam is the influential matriarch Summoned - dam of the five times Gr.1 winning high class stallion Zeditave and the stakes winners Alannon, Square Deal, Pampas Fire and Zedagal... and ancestress of the feature race winners You're So Good, Cloister, Unison, Furnaces, Shikoba, Verocative, Jet Spur, Leonardo da Hinchi, Generous Tycoon, Mystic Prince, Real Charm, Zac Spirit, Zac Influence, Flying Alpha, Greys Inn, Smart Call, Zestful, Military Rose, Norzita, Carif and Hollows.

Hailing from Pariah's debut crop, this handsome colt is the second foal produced by the three times winner Just Pay Up who continues to visit commercial stallions - foaling a Dundeel filly last spring, subsequently served by Written By.

Just Pay Up is one of four winners for the stakes winning Volksraad mare Volksini, also dam of the stakes placed gallopers Volkshere and Crafty Devil who between them won 21 races. Volksini's dam Indochine by Grosvenor sadly died after producing only two foals, the other being Volkschine who has produced two black type gallopers, the two times Gr.2 placed Flashy Fella and the Listed placed Mr Thorpedo.

Indochine's dam Eastern Joy was a high class race mare, winner of 12 races including the Gr.1 Easter Stakes, three other Group races and three Listed events. Her daughters and granddaughters have fared well at stud, producing the Gr.1 Brisbane Cup winner Piachay, the Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes winner Utility and the Gr.2 mare Music Bay. What a wonderful family this is, its other members including the Gr.1 winners Pernod, Kushadasi, Russian Pearl and Bannaby. Its ancestress is the acclaimed matriarch Friar's Daughter whose 11 winners including the undefeated UK Triple Crown winner Bahram and fellow multiple big race winne Dastur. This fellow's exciting pedigree includes crosses of the prolific stallions Danzig, Northern Dancer, Sir Ivor, Nashua, Bold Ruler and Sir Tristram and considerable background female strength with duplications of the influential mares Lavendula II, Feola, Somethingroyal, Natalma, Selene, Gibside Fairy, Lady Josephine, Mumtaz Begum and Pretty Polly.
