OUR NXT LEVEL TEAM COMMENTS

Every so often, you find a super horse that just seems to slip through the cracks late in a sale and that’s exactly what we have got with this impressive colt. By champion sire, PIERRO, who has produced Gr1 winners like Levendi, Arcadia Queen and Pierata, this colt has all the looks of a future champion as well.

From when we first pulled him out of the box, we knew we had to have him at Nxt Level. Not only did he have a great nature but he just stands so well and he is very in proportion. He reminded us a lot of his Dad and although this colt is more of a jet black colour, he just grabs your attention with strength in all the right places. He has lovely balance, great length of neck and a very pretty head. Where you can really see his difference between the other yearlings at the sale is through the shoulder, where he has phenomenal strength for a young horse. He oozes athleticism, moves well and is a nice early foal born in August, which is another bonus!

VIEW PEDIGREE WRITE-UP Pierro x Limerock Lass Colt

It is little wonder that Pierro was so well respected, the best son of superstar galloper Lonhro (in turn the best son of the great Octagonal) not once running a bad race - winning 11 of his 14 starts and filling placings on the other three occasions.

Five times successful at the elite level (Golden Slipper Stakes, Champagne Stakes, ATC Sires' Produce Stakes - the juvenile Triple Crown - the Canterbury Stakes and the George Ryder Stakes), Pierro understandably proved an instant hit with breeders and he has rewarded that support with an outstanding stud record.

An excellent winners-to-runners strike rate just short of 68%... 27 stakes winners including seven Gr.1 winners (Arcadia Queen, Regal Power, Shadow Hero, Pierata, Furore, Pinot, Levendi) who have been successful over a variety of distances in differing conditions.

Inheriting the eye-catching dark coat so typical of the Lonhro line, this colt is out of the lightly raced mare Limerock Lass who was a gutsy winner at debut - also first across the line at her second start only to lose on protest.

A daughter of one of Danehill's greatest sons, the European Horse Of The Year Rock Of Gibraltar (high class broodmare sire of 60 stakes winners including seven Gr.1 winners), Limerock Lass is already doing the job at stud with three of her first four foals being winners including the Gr.2 placed city winner Litchfield County and the Moonee Valley winner Sayumi.

Limerock Lass, who was served last year by Pierro's Gr.1 son Pierata, is one of the seven winners (from as many foals to race) for the stakes placed import Forest Native - the now retired mare whose final foal (the two-year-old Ponca) is a recent trial winner.

Two of Forest Native's foals have been successful at stakes level - the Gr.1 William Reid Stakes winner Foxwedge (also a Gr.2 and Gr.3 winner) and the Listed Rosebud winner She's A Fox. Also dam of the stakes placed Paulownia, Forest Native is grandam of the Listed Fernhill Quality winner Untamed.

This is a high class international family and this colt has the pedigree to match with four of the five Pierro runners out of Rock Of Gibraltar mares being winners including the dual Gr.3 winner Tulip and the stakes placed Sikorsky.
